A Project to Reimagine Schools in South Africa
The Sustainable Schools Initiative proposes that all schools in South Africa – both existing and ones yet to be built – can become places that are safe and sustainable, and can provide learners of all ages with spaces and facilities that can better meet their needs than the current paradigm.
Each school should be autonomous inasmuch as it should function independently of government systems and the national grid. However each school should be an integral part of the surrounding community, and the community an essential part of the school.
We have made a proposals that such a project could be undertaken, and all schools in South Africa should ultimately be addressed. We are working with charities, NGOs and government to make this a reality
